The Swedish House Mafia are perhaps the most recognizable faces of EDM today. They have made it to the top with their amazing synths and sounds combined with impressive marketing ability.
We’ve seen a bunch of other DJ’s on the rise this year; Alesso, Nicky Romero, R3hab, Thomas Gold, Third Party and Arty have all made huge splashes in the electronic music industry. These, however, do not mark the end of the wave of young producers out there; yet another generation anxiously awaits for a chance at the spotlight. Today, we highlight 5 DJs that we expect to be at the top of the EDM game very shortly. Keep reading for the full rundown.
Dyro
Dyro is one of the talented producers featured on Hardwell’s label, Revealed Recordings. I first heard Dyro’s sounds off of the Talent Revealed EP that Hardwell released, and I was immediately struck by the sheer power of his track, “Daftastic.” A trip to Dyro’s soundcloud reveals that he’s got tons of other projects lined up and in the works, all of them sounding pretty darn good. His style is characterized by huge buildups and hard-hitting drops, much like Hardwell himself. Not a bad comparison.

Fareoh
Fareoh burst onto the scene in a big way this year with his massive remix of Wynter Gordon’s “Buy My Love.” He had been producing solid tracks for years, but the remix and support of a big label showed everybody that Fareoh was ready for the next step. His recent appearances at Electric Zoo Festival and Noctural Wonderland, along with consistent appearances at Pacha NYC and Lavo, have solidified his abilities as a DJ as well a producer. His most recent unofficial remix, that of Rihanna and Calvin Harris’s “We Found Love”, is the first step in what is sure to be an explosive year for Fareoh.

Otto Knows
The support of Avicii is no small thing. Otto Knows has the full backing of the prodigious Swede, even having made an appearance on his Levels podcast earlier this year. Besides that, Otto has the full arsenal of powerful and uplifting big-room synths that we’ve seen become so popular recently in the industry. His track “Visa”, set for release soon, is easily one of the best pieces of progressive house I’ve heard recently, and his remix of ATB’s “Twisted Love” is another huge one that is set to be released soon. “Million Voices” is another one he’s got in the chamber that we can’t wait for. Keep this name in the front of your mind, because once these tracks are released, you’ll be hearing “Otto Knows” everywhere.

Madeon
Simply put, the 17 year-old Frenchman has brought back the old school of French house in a massive way. Yes, people like Martin Solveig are doing similar things, but not on the scale that Madeon is doing it. His sounds are poppy and dancey and impossible to dislike. The announcement that Madeon will perform with Swedish House Mafia at Milton Keynes Bowl next summer is perhaps his biggest accomplishment yet. Or maybe a YouTube video with 6 million views tops that? Or maybe the fact that his “Raise Your Weapon” remix has over 450,000 plays on Soundcloud? You tell us.

Tim Mason
Tim Mason has had a ridiculous 2011, and yet the man has only 4,800 Facebook likes. This is simply a travesty. “The Moment” was one of the biggest tracks of the year, garnering massive amounts of festival play. His remix of “Solid Ground” was lauded by Dirty South and Thomas Gold, among others, as one of the best tracks of the year. His remixes of “Otherside”, “After”, and “I Can’t Help Myself” also were on everybody’s radar. Listen now: Tim Mason will break through as one of the biggest producers of 2012 and will finally solidify his place at the top of the EDM game.
